What is a Housing Needs Survey?

The Housing Needs Survey is usually a 6-week-long survey to determine hidden housing need in every individual parish (or group of parishes, where the parishes are smaller) across Shropshire.
The information we collect will feed directly into Shropshire Council’s planning policy and will help to determine the type, scale and location of future homes, to ensure we are providing the right kind of housing and support where it’s needed most.
This includes for all types of housing, whether it’s open market sale, affordable sale, rented, older person accommodation or specialist housing.

The Housing Needs Surveys are run by Right Home Right Place, a small team of Affordable Housing Officers who are part of Shropshire Councils planning policy department. Our role is to build a clear picture of what’s needed in your each of our county’s parishes by running comprehensive housing needs surveys in communities throughout Shropshire.
You can find out more about Right Home Right Place, meet the team, read the latest news updates and get help with a range of housing queries via our website at www.righthomerightplace.co.uk
