BARRATT REDROW - PLANNING APPLICATION 24/00765/FUL
5th November 2024

PRESS RELEASE

5th November 2024

On Monday 4th November, a Full Council meeting was held by Bayston Hill Parish Council to facilitate a meeting requested by developers Barratt Redrow regarding their application for 118 houses on a greenfield site on Lyth Hill. There was an outstanding turnout from the village with over 170 members of the public.

Cllr Mark Underwood, Chairman BHPC Planning Committee said "Eight members of the public spoke passionately and left Redrow in no doubt of what the issues are with this proposed development and that it is not wanted by the village. As Councillor's we robustly challenged Redrow over a number of areas concerning grave issues with the application and ended the meeting unanimously opposed to the application. Redrow requested this meeting but seemed unable to respond with any understanding towards the level of feeling against their proposal."

Cllr Rob Ruscoe, Chairman of BHPC added "Redrow have no real answers to multiple concerns including additional traffic - on what is a country lane, flood mitigation to an area already blighted and a severe lack of local amenities such as school and doctor places. This decision should have been made by June, we now call on Shropshire Council to throw out this ill thought through and inappropriate application"
