Local Plan Review - ‘Preferred Sites’ Consultation

Shropshire Council is continuing to progress with its Local Plan Review.

To inform this review, Shropshire Council is now seeking comments on the third stage of consultation on the Local Plan Review, the ‘Preferred Sites’. This consultation runs from Thursday 29th November 2018 to Friday 8 February 2019. A consultation meeting will be held at the Guildhall in Frankwell, Shrewsbury on Thursday 24 January 2019 to discuss the proposals for the area around Bayston Hill (Shrewsbury Rural South) from 7pm.

The ‘Preferred Sites’ Consultation:

· Outlines a housing policy direction to improve the delivery of local housing needs;

· Establishes development guidelines and development boundaries for Shrewsbury, Principal and Key Centres, and each proposed Community Hub.

· Sets out preferred sites to deliver the preferred scale and distribution of housing and employment growth during the plan period to 2036.

Paper copies will also be on display at Shropshire libraries and main Shropshire Council Offices during their normal opening hours.

Once completed, the questionnaire can be submitted by:

If submitting your own response, please enter your last name in the email subject field;

If submitting a response on behalf of a client, please enter their last name in the email subject field.

Please ensure that Shropshire Council receives any consultation response by Thursday 31^st January 2019.

What Happens Next?

Further stages of consultation will occur in 2019.

The existing Core Strategy & SAMDev Plan will remain in force until any new Plan is adopted which is anticipated around 2020.

Thank you for supporting the Tree Charter

I am writing to thank Bayston Hill Parish Council for its role in helping to launch the new Charter for Trees, Woods and People earlier this year. The Local Council Charter Branch network has surpassed all expectations, planting hundreds of Legacy Trees and collecting thousands of signatures. You have made a great contribution to strengthening the voice of the Tree Charter. If you have not done so already, you can now visit the new Tree Charter website and read the 10 Principles of the Tree Charter in their entirety. Each principle is accompanied by evidence, articles and calls to action. After Christmas we will be entering a new phase of the Tree Charter project. The Charter Branch network will be rejuvenated, with new projects and activities for local councils to get involved with. In addition, we are looking forward to the release of our local council Tree Charter toolkit early next year, which will translate the 10 Principles of the Tree Charter into tangible actions your council may take. The launch of the Tree Charter is just the beginning of an exciting new time for trees in the UK. By embracing the Tree Charter councils have placed themselves at the centre of the conversation about policy and practice regarding trees. By adopting and enacting the 10 Principles of the Tree Charter, councils will become a leading force for improving the relationship between trees and people in the United Kingdom. 'Snow Go' for Council Meetings

15th December 2017

The Planning Committee and Full Council meetings planned for Monday 11 December had to be postponed due to the heavy snow.

The planning applications on the agenda for last Monday will now be discussed on 8 January 2017 - The meeting will start at 6:30pm

The Full Council will also meet on 8 January 2018 at 7pm, whilst the Finance Committee meeting originally scheduled for that evening has been moved to Monday 22 January instead.

As usual, members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Christmas Opening Hours

15th November 2017

The Parish Office will be closed from Monday25 December 2017 until Monday 1 January 2018 inclusive.

There will be a skeleton staff keeping the parish facilities tidy. Emergency contact numbers will be provided nearer the time.
