A safety scheme will be installed on Longden Road, Shrewsbury. The work aims to reduce the speed of traffic along the road and increase the safety of those who use the road, particularly those who use the adjacent school. Work is due to start on 15 August 2016 and last for three weeks.

Footway buildouts are proposed in four locations along Longden Road. Part time 20mph flashing signing will be installed on Longden Road and on Bank Farm Road. The road will be surface dressed from Stanley Lane to Roman Road and there will be changes to the existing traffic signs and road markings. The existing street lighting will also be upgraded.

When will the road be closed?

A Sunday closure (7am to 12noon) is proposed on 28 August to allow the road to be surface dressed.

A signed diversion route will be in place to accommodate this.

Access for residents will be maintained.

1st March 2016

The refreshed play area at Long Meadow will re-open in time for the Easter Holiday, on Thursday 24th March 2016.

There is still an area of bare earth, where grass seed has been sown.  The grass has not yet had time to establish and the ground is still very soft following the period of wet weather, so parents are asked to discourage their children from walking across the disturbed ground to use the slide for the time being.  New steps will be installed at the front of the embankment in the next few weeks.

The Parish Council hopes that you find the site better laid out and more family friendly and that you enjoy using the new equipment.
