Glebelands Update

At the first Full Council meeting after the withdrawal of the Glebelands application, the decision was taken to write to the land agent requesting that the Parish Council be considered to again hold the lease for the field.

The following response has been received;

“Following the withdrawal of Shinglers planning application, the Diocese have sought legal advice and are currently considering their options with their partners and the local church.

“I am afraid it is very unlikely that they will include reletting the land to the Parish Council. Until we have a clear decision, I cannot give you any firm advice.”

We will continue to share any further updates as we receive them.

Mr Colin Lewis and Mr Robert Ruscoe were unanimously voted in to join the council as co-opted members at this weeks Full Council. Both will be familiar faces due to the fact they are already very active in local community groups. We are delighted to be adding their skills and knowledge to the team.

Bayston Hill Parish Council are delighted that the application to build on our precious remaining central green space has been withdrawn.

Chairman of the Council, Cllr Caroline Clode said “This is such a relief! The community have really pulled together to show its opposition to these plans. Over 200 objections were lodged on the Planning Portal, over 500 signatures have been collected opposing it as well as residents airing their concerns to local media.

“Now we can move forward in supporting the application to designate this space as an official “Village Green” and protect it for everyone to enjoy for years to come.”

21st August 2023

An additional Planning Committee has been called for 29th August at 4pm, details can be found on the meetings tab.
